How to Make Money as a Stay at Home Mom

7 Ideas to Make Money as a Stay at Home Mom
Are you a mom who wants to make money without sacrificing time with your kids? As a stay at home mom, it may seem like working from home is dang near impossible because you may think you do not have a specific skill set. However, you more than likely already have these skills- or have the ability learn them for FREE online. In return you would earn money without leaving the house, sacrificing time with your family or be burdened with the cost of childcare. Sounds like a win right?
I’m going to give you some easy ways you can make money as a stay at home mom in 2022!
Selling Unused Items
So number one on my list is Decluttering things you do not need. We clean after the kids all day, why not make money in the process? Whether it be household items, kids clothing/toys, maternity clothing, pre-post pregnancy clothing, most moms have a ton to get rid of.
While this may be a short term cash solution for some, with further research you can turn this into a fulltime reselling business. Finding thrifted and wholesale items you can mark up for a profit will turn this side hustle into consistent cash.
For more discounted finds, check for wholesale liquidation stores, discount stores and even dollar tree in your area. A lot of items you find at big box retailers such as Amazon and Walmart, you will be able to find at a fraction of the cost. In fact, many liquidation centers sell perfectly good products by the pallet at a huge discount which will be great as your business grows. These items can then be resold on Facebook Marketplace or eBay.
Babysitting
As a mom you may already have your children home full or part-time, babysitting can be an easy money maker for you. What’s even better is that finding clients easy, just ask your friends and other family member who either work, or would like time away from their kids. Other ways to advertise your service is by advertising in local Facebook groups, local newspaper, and even schools.
The amount you charge should be based on the children’s age and also what your in home daycare will provide. Newborn and Infants tend to cost more because you have to change diapers and feed them. They overall require more hands on attention. However, older children are usually more independent especially if they are already feeding themselves and potty trained. While this is a great money maker it is also an opportunity to meet other mommy friends and for your kids to make friends as well.
Virtual Assistant
It’s no secret that we are living in a digital age. People are making fulltime livings working from home and it is the perfect opportunity for you to become a virtual assistant. No matter your skill level, you can still learn how to become a VA completely free with just a simple Youtube video search. Whether it is working for a blogger, influencer, or small business there is somebody that can use your skills. If you want longer term clients consider what you love to do and what you do well and market that skill.
Here are a few examples of jobs businesses pay VA’s to do: check emails, write content, social media management, update websites, photography, media outreach, recipe tester, and more. The best part about it? You don”t have to worry about a degree or corporate experience.
Blogging
Blogging is one of my favorite forms of income (Am I biased? lol) because it can be both active and passive. I’d suggest starting your blog in addition to another side hustle or work from home gig. It is not an overnight success thing. In today’s age many blogs out there are raking in thousands even hundreds of thousands each month with advertising, sponsorships, digital products and affiliate links. Affiliate links are special links that earn the blog owner a commission when a visitor clicks the link and makes a purchase but does not cost the buyer anything extra. Many bloggers report making a full-time income in as little as 6 months but for most it will take longer. If you want to monetize your blog quickly, I suggest applying for google adsense. Most people shy away from adsense but why miss out on income?

Photography
Whether you are tech savvy with the camera or willing to learn, there are many avenues in the photography world to make money! You can create stock photos to sell online, which bloggers, business owners and content creators can then purchase a license to use. You will then earn money each time your photo is purchased. You could also make this a local photography business, taking family portraits, graduation photos or even photographing important events like weddings or parties. Finally, in the age of so many small businesses opening, offer to take product photography.
Selling on Etsy
Are you crafty mama or have a love for vintage items? Consider selling your creations on Etsy.
Unlike our previously listed selling platforms (Mercari, Facebook, Ebay etc) people on Etsy will pay a premium price for handmade items. A few items that you can sell on Etsy are handmade jewelry, hair bows and accessories, sewing patterns, wreaths and ornaments, personalized items and more. If you are not the crafty type consider selling digital products such as mock ups, planners and printables.
Digital products and courses
Technology has been king in the sense of making money from home. One of the best ways to monetize your skills is through digital products and courses. You can create E-books, a course, templates, email courses and more. The most popular pricing for digital products and courses are $27, $37, $47, $97 and up for more intense courses. The best part is that these courses can be pre-recorded and made on demand making this a passive income stream.
There are so many ways for moms to make money online. My best advice is to always do what you love and what is profitable. From there you can work on building multiple streams of income centered around that skill.
